Sambar
Sambar is served with rice during lunch but is also be paired with Idli, Dosa, and Vada.
It is a fairly thick spicy extract of thuvar dhal soured with Tamarind, frequently containing soft vegetables like the eggplant, drumstick, gourd, and lady's finger.
In Sri Lanka sambhar-sadam (sambhar mixed with rice) makes it easy to bring to work and school. This is also served in temples after a puja and is a very filling meal.
